Come on up – Manoj, Alexis, Micah & Ellis Allipuria; Dore, Tiff, Faith & Jacob Reperts (sp?)
Dedicating these kids back to the Lord

People to honor: staff, board, men’s group, youth leaders, parents, the church
Proverbs 29:18 When there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but the one who keeps the law, blessed is he!
We can get so limited that we miss what God is really saying
John on Patmos has a vision leading to the book of Revelation
What does God see in my life that only I can do?
God has THIS much more for you to complete
You don’t have to sweat on some things, but there are things He wants us to do where we will be dependent on Him

Courage is operated by faith
Joshua says don’t be afraid
If we live in this reality, discouragement sets in
Luke 1:37 God wants us to live the courageous life
Where we see limits and obstacles, God sees opportunities
He and Grace didn’t know there were mountains around LA for 6 months after they moved here
Their perspective was blocked by the smog
Smog comes into our life and distracts and blur’s up our vision
Takes a good rain and windstorm – what the Holy Spirit is referred to as
Clears debris
If you want perspective, we have to let the wind/rain/Spirit into our lives
Grace and I are going to start a church in Australia
3 things that robbed me of living God’s life for me
1.Comfort
I’ve desired to be comfortable rather than courageous
Years ago decided getting out of debt was a good idea
Paid it off but then I wasn’t comfortable
Needed 1000 in a savings account
Comfort has made me greedy and lazy
Desire for comfortability choked me
Trade pursuit of God’s life for pursuit of my own desires
Psalms 23
Requiring a new reliance on God to get to Australia
I didn’t want to be comfortable anymore
I need to put myself in an uncomfortable box
No human food for Daisy…she gets allergies
When God awakens a desire to be uncomfortable and courageous in us, you don’t have to sell all your stuff
Give generously, to a fault
2. We often compromise because of the COST
A sacrifice is required
Romans 12
Luke 9:23
In light of His sacrifice, our costs pale in comparison
Costly move to Australia
Relationally, financially
I don’t want to live here – I want to live HERE
3. CONTROL
I like to drive, not be the passenger
It’s more fun being in control
It’s not me pushing doors open or forcing conversation
It’s God controlling it
Romans 8:9
Jeremiah 29:11 -> that’s God’s promise to each of us
Seek a specific number, …
Smog comes in quick, but the Holy Spirit
Combat comfort with courage
Consider the cost that Christ paid, let it increase our sacrifice

Don’t let control distort the path you’re on

One thing in my head – being imitators of Christ

As a songwriter trying to imitate popular artists
Ludicrous trying to imitate Christ because He’s so perfect
Ephesians 5:1-2
Not being a stupid drunk, etc
What could Paul possibly mean for fallen human beings
Live a life of love
Ephesians 5 talks about husbands and wives loving as Christ loves us
For we are members of His body
I’ve got His DNA
Who are we trying to imitate?
Imitaton starts at birth
We’re all imitating someone either consciously or subconsciously

Survivors of abuse are more likely to be abusive parents
It’s unconcious imitation
It creeps into your soul, leaving it’s thumbprints

Paul was a man and a failure as well as an imitator of Christ
Romans 12:2-3
What was He beyond preacher and healer
Opposition to pride
Phillipians 2 attitude as Christ did not consider equality with God as glorious
He know He’s God and that wasn’t enough
If I’ve got an achievement, I don’t hide it

What happened to you? Leave me alone, I’m joining the army
Dude you are obnoxious
The older I got the more I Iearned
To die to yourself is an opportunity, not martyrdom
To look at that flesh, that lust, that greed and say I don’t know this man
You don’t have to be anyone that you don’t want to be
That’s what we get from it…a chance to be liberated
Make Christ your pattern that your children may be free
Be imitators of Christ – He’s not here anymore
If someone needs a word of encouragement – that’s our job
Romans 10 – how can they call on the one they do not know
He’s not saying just fast forward the sex scenes on tv and watch your language and I’ll do my thing
We are His works
We’ve got a lot to learn if we’re going to model our lives after Jesus
I need to eat drink and breathe the scriptures until I can’t separate it from ourselves
Ephesians 2 means His DNA is inside us

Jon
When we see someone behaving like us, we don’t like it
Do I see myself in someone taking to narrow path? In people being kind or forgiving?
Opportunity tonight to come to the table
I’ve given myself to you…give yourself to me

Directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter 5), music by Harry Gregson-Williams (Chronicles of Narnia).

Very enjoyable. Little kid free running + big kid free running.

I never played Prince of Persia (preferred Assassins Creed), but story looks like fun (if adaptation is loyal).

Hebrews 10 was about …
Exhort one another as long as it’s called today

Hebrews 11
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
2 For by it the people of old received their commendation.
3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.
5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
9 By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.
10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.
15 If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return.
16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,
18 of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”
19 He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.
20 By faith Isaac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau.
21 By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff.
22 By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones.

23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.
26 He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.
27 By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.
28 By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.

29 By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days.
31 By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

32 And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets-
33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
35 Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life.
36 Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.
37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated-
38 of whom the world was not worthy- wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

39 And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised,
40 since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

32-35A
Gained what was promised
Some of them didn’t get hat they were promised
I watched so and so get blessed…where’s mine?
What is He trying to accomplish in my life?
God is still good and just
Both sides were faithful regardless of ending
Accepted by faith
Certain characteristics
Put ourselves up against this chapter as a community
Do I have these same characteristics?
v. 7 – Noah condemned the world and built a boat
Do the circles we walk in ask the question: are you blending into the world, the mindset
I need to get all my happiness in life now
If I don’t get it, I can’t be happy
v. 8 Abraham went without knowing his route
Dwelled in tents, nothing permanent
Do the circles we walk in see you as one of their own?
v. 23 Moses’ parents rebelled against the king’s edict
They took the risk of going against the king
This was a person that could act as a deliverer
v. 38 the world was not worthy of them
They all had a viewpoint of who God is
v. 1 Their faith was sure
Being sure translated as something you can stand under
v. 6 acted in holy fear
v. 10-12
Get to new city in chapter 12
Constant looking at
Gives you hope
Abraham and Sarah laughed, Moses questioned, Israel, Rahab was a prostitute, David adulterer and murdered, Samson got suckered
They all had faith
Maybe my struggles aren’t so bad
So what if I don’t have faith 100% of the time
Matthew 13:31-32
Luke 17:5-6
Mark into the sea
If I pray for this person’s healing and they don’t get healed, it’s my fault
Maybe I don’t have enough faith or I’m not doing it right
Faith-o-meter wasn’t high enough
Mustard seed is really small
My faith is mixed with doubt
Smallest of seeds
Faith starts with the smallest act/step
Then it begins to touch every part of you
You start to recognize His voice
Develop your own faith as you walk with God
Your faith increases in you to the point where it takes you
Doubt is ALWAYS mixed in, no matter where you are
Isle Royal in Lake Superior, 50 miles across
High ridges revealed swampy, trailless messes
It must be possible to get through this valley because somebody else has gone through
Four packs, no people, people come back warning of moose up ahead
Sometimes Hebrews 11 is like that
It can be done
I can remain faithful
You see people with mixed faith and doubt
We hope the medication can help us
Faith is belief + unbelief + acting on the belief
Looks like a mustard seed, but it grows
Faith isn’t a sucker punch infusion from the Holy Spirit
Consider the lillies and the birds
Filled with worry and anxiety, you’re not considering thise who have gone before
v. 6 without faith you can’t please God
Abraham obeyed God and went out
How do you want to be remembered?
Were you the one who didn’t hold on to resentment, who forgave people?
Great Grandma Wealthy Amelia Sommers
Always had a nickel is her hand for Crush
Walked down to the corner store
Sit down and have chocolate cake with Orange Crush
One of the richest people in his life
House on a dirt road
Acted in a way that she gave of herself to her family and her church
Husband was horrible
Had people over, fed them
Died with $78 to her name
The world was not worthy of her mindset
She was condemned by the world
She was a part of Hebrews 11
What does the world do with a person like Wealthy?
When we’re born
Naked and laid out on the palm of a parent
Have to wave at everybody, everyone’s got a Buick
Never rich according to the standards of the world
Don’t know what to do with Ernie and Loretta
Why aren’t you traveling like the rest of us?
I want to serve my grandkids and my church
Dad was a senior pastor for so many years and he’s been stabbed in the back so many times you’d think he had scars
He tried to revolutionize the church in the 80s, let’s sing choruses only
Sometimes churches think they need to split
If more than 50% don’t want me, I’ll go
The 48% starts their own church to sing hymns instead of just choruses
Leader of that church was sick and Ernie was the first one at his side
The church has stabbed in your back and we understand if you don’t want to serve it
The church is the greatest gift in the world today
As I watch you grapple with life, I see faith the size of mustard seeds
We can remain faithful because those before us were faithful

Paul
Our God
And if our God is for us than who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us than what could stand against

A really impressive youth production!

For normal websites like MSN.com. It wasn’t Tools -> Internet Options -> Colors; those were all set correctly. Installing Google Chrome appeared to work fine, but then certain websites weren’t behaving correctly (due to their poor programming), so another solution was needed. It turns out that the High Contrast option was checked under Control Panel -> Accessibility Options -> Display and that solved the whole problem. Weird way of dealing with contrast, Microsoft, but at least the forums of the web saved me. Yeesh.

A highly enjoyable show that is an all female cast (good to remember from a production mindset).

People I Knew: Kieran, Summer, Jennifer.

People I know: Whitney Ackerman (Danny Zuko), Amanda Baker (Marty), Brian Sipkovich (Kenickie), David Kinne (Sonny), Jonathan Dean (Vince Fontaine), Josh Alton (Teen Angel), Sarah Harrington (Anita), Megan Berndt (Peggy), and my amazingly talented sister Alyssa Heckman (Sherry).

Aside from adding the song “Hopelessly Devoted To You” from the movie (which was a nice moment for Sandy but is then duplicitous/redundant when shortly followed by “Raining On Prom Night” – kind of like they wanted to remind us that Sandy is still depresse after intermission), the musical remains true to it’s source and is a wonderful trip to the raunchy and rebellious 50′s.

Laura is not a fan of this musical because it instructs girls that the only way to get through high school is to give in to peer pressure, as Sandy does by dressing “hot” at the end of the show, and I agree with Laura…it is a strange conflicting message…is it just suppose to be a period piece where the moral shouldn’t be applied to kids today?
