CTX S501A Troubleshoot Key Lock

So I can’t turn the monitor on or off. There is a Key Lock display when you plug the AC cord in. The internet is less than helpful. All I can find is some forum post reply that says push two buttons or hold down ESC and ENTER when powering the monitor on…yeah, THAT sounds like a good idea. So let’s push random combinations of buttons on the monitor until somethig happens…

Earth – AMC 14 @ The District, Tustin, CA

I saw this film in it’s opening week for three reasons:

1) I was excited by the trailer – James Earl Jones!
2) I wanted Disney to plant a tree with my ticket purchase
3) I wanted to support the brand new DisneyNature label (essentially a production house for Disney’s True Life Adventures)

Between the first viewing of the trailer and my viewing of the film, a negative thought was introduced into my head regarding this maiden voyage of DisneyNature (primarily from this MousePlanet review): that the film was simply a poor, disjointed summary of BBC’s Planet Earth miniseries (which was and still is a fantastic promo for the beauty of hi-definition television sets). Obviously this wasn’t enough to make me not see the film, but it definitely clouded my idle thought.

I agree the film is slightly disjointed and prone to take liberties with narrative jumps, but the story as a whole is an appropriately digestable summation of Earth and a suitable exploration of some of it’s unique creatures and climates. James Earl Jones is fantastic (especially when he invokes Disney quotes like “not flying, but falling with style” and “the great circle of life”) and there were some absolutely beautiful vistas and action shots. But it also had a storyline that I cared about…three of them: a family of two polar bear cubs, a herd of elephants and a mother humpback whale and her calf. All three stories were tied together on a massive scale by the seasons of Earth (spring, summer, fall, and winter), and the stories were woven together with intermission-like vignettes which facilitated the thousands of miles between the three stories with great ease.

Rent: The School Edition – Corona Del Mar

Very polished preview. Only one stop per act. Really good caliber performances from the leads…even by non-high school standards.

Obviously they can’t say f***. The big problem song obviously is La Vie Boheme: They can say masturbation but they can’t say erection? They can’t say dyke. They jumped a section with lyrics right before the talking interlude…marijuana?

Roger is phenomenal and this is his first onstage performance ever! He’s a sophmore varsity football player and he’s got a really good voice.

30 hi-quality cordless mics! Fancy LED footlights and high end lighting throughout!

Really good show! Check it out before the protests shut it down!

Bronzeville – The New LATC

Delightful straight play about an African American family that moves to California after the Japanese internment of the 1940′s, allowing them possession of an interred family’s house with one caveat…a young American man from that Japanese family has evaded internment by hiding in the attic! Now this family must adjust to this new surrogate family member in a situation akin to the plight their culture found itself in before Emancipation…a desperate struggle for freedom against an oppressive government.

Meet the Goodwins:

Patriarch Jodie, leading his family West from Mississippi to Los Angeles;

His grandmother Janie, the aging matriarch and reigning chef of the house;

His brother Felix who won’t be forced into the military just because the family has a history of fighting for a country that doesn’t recognize their rights…he just wants to play jazz;

As we went through the bag checking line, one of them announced, “Please have your-happy birthday-bags open and ready for inspection”. When I got to him, I complied, but slyly threw in that I didn’t have any happy birthday bags and he chuckled. Yay!

Really great host for the last Tiki Room show of the day..when we cheered loudly, he replied, “That makes the Tiki gods smile!”. Awesome!

Great tram announcer on our way out…asked about birthdays and anniversaries (coincidentally it was our 17 month anniversary) and engagements and congratulated the birthdays and anniversarys but for engagements he said good luck! Tee hee!

12 Rounds – AMC Westgate 20, Glendale, AZ

The advertisments all highlight the fact that this is a film from the director of Die Hard 2 (which to me is the more lackluster of the quadrilogy) and the producer of Speed (eh), but it’s basically the plot of Die Hard 3. Not to say this is a bad movie…it’s very exciting and terse and enjoyable. John Cena gives a very enjoyable performance (in my opinion not as good as Dwayne Johnson, but not bad for his second tour of the leading man position…The Rock was a little stiff in The Scorpion King) as Officer Danny Shaw, a beat cop in New Orleans who gets dragged into a sadistic terrorist’s 12 round game where the rules are solve the puzzle or people die.
